DOES NFT MAKE YOUR GAME BETTER?
The real question is does NFT or any other technology trend make your game better? To answer this question, we have to go back to the essence of the problem from the very beginning. What determines an attractive game? It depends on the game design more than what technology is crammed into or used to create a game.
There are games from old times that, even without modern technology, are still fun when you play with your friends, such as hide and seek, board games, etc. And in the era of personal computers, many exciting video games have been born, bringing many unforgettable experiences to players. The game designers leverage the rapid development of graphics technology to create attractive quality products.
That means technology itself does not create attractiveness for the product, but it is the creativity of the designer and manufacturer that gives life to the product. Technology is just a tool for creativity, some tools are the foundation for the product, but there is also technology that is just a decoration for the product. In my opinion, Blockchain or NFT is a decorative technology for the video game. Because neither with it nor without it does not affect video game creations and production.
Remember when Pokemon Go was born and created a worldwide craze for a while, and then not long after that, no one talked about it anymore. Its popular feature is using location tracking of mobile phones to encourage players to be active outdoors and collect pokemon scattered at locations on the map. The appeal of this game is dwindling because most of us are lazy and prefer more convenient things. And there is no shortage of other attractive games on computers and phones that are enough to give you a lifetime experience without having to waste energy wandering the streets in a smoky atmosphere and having an extremely high risk of getting into a traffic accident because the mind is distracted by worrying about finding pokemon and forgetting about your own safety. So, no matter how well-advertised location tracking technology is, very few game manufacturers use it to create their products. So it will be classified as decorative technology.
Blockchain or NFT is also a decorative technology when people apply it to create a so-called "play to earn" game. I think this technology has more potential for life applications other than games. This conclusion is from the point of view of a "play for fun" gamer, me.
