THE FACTS ABOUT NFT GAMES - P2

Updated: Nov 27, 2021

WHO ARE THE TARGET PLAYERS OF THE NFT GAME?

Have you ever wondered why NFT titles are labeled “play to earn”? For me, that was enough to understand what the goals of these games are and who their target audience is. I do not deny the need for any manufacturer to generate a profit from the product to cover production costs and reinvestment. In conventional video games, there is a balance in design to create a memorable experience for players. The video game creators also convey various creative and meaningful messages to people who pay for their products.

In contrast, in the NFT game trend, the "play to earn" brand conveys a message that hits the greed of players, who play this game to make money, want to get rich. Their real goal is simple, farming hard in the game to collect items and sell them for real money. The NFT game player experience is different from the ordinary player.

Ordinary people play games, not because of money. They merely enjoy the relaxing moments in the game with the unique experiences of music, art images, meaningful stories meaning that game designers have worked so hard to create. Some games also bring specific knowledge to players about culture, history, economy, politics, climate changes, etc. Those knowledge turn out will help them later in daily life.

The different brand names NFT games share the same monotony in design and experience because the goal of monetization pushes a heavy pressure on their shoulder combined with the nature of Blockchain technology makes it worse. Collecting in-game items are a common feature among various NFT games. Some NFT games allow players to create or draw 2d or 3d images and attach them to an NFT (roughly can be understood as a digital ownership certificate of in-game assets, which cannot be fraud). But before you can get to those features, you will have to go through a series of complicated registration processes such as creating an e-wallet, registering an account on a specific blockchain platform, etc. All of these discourage those who only want to play games for fun.

Another thing, if you want to feel the instant feedback in the modern online games, my condolences, the transactions using blockchain takes more time than conventional online games, and it creates a pretty delay. With the desire to create many unique assets to maximize profits, the graphics of NFT games will be as minimal as possible. You can hardly expect to get the same overwhelming visual experience as regular games due to technical limits. This one is another minus point for casual players or hardcore gamers.

In addition, the cost to start playing an NFT game has a bad image quality with an exorbitant price is also a huge barrier for many people. Let us imagine! With that money, you can buy a lot of AAA quality games with hundreds of experienced hours in the vast beautiful worlds with your friends, enjoy stories, and bold art like Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, or Final Fantasy 7 remake.

Therefore, I would like to emphasize that the main motive of players in the "play to earn" system has only one goal: to make money, to hold speculative items, to wait for the price to rise, and sell for a profit. They are the main target players of NFT games.
